Overview:
Explora’s Home School Explorations Series offers your child a semester of weekly, 75 minute-long experiential science, technology, and art programs. Each Exploration is facilitated by Explora educators. These are 75 minute-long, materials-rich classes that actively engage every child in inquiry activities. In these classes, children will make discoveries in science, technology, engineering, art, and math through questioning, experiencing, and investigating. Children will be encouraged to build their own knowledge and cultivate skills such as observation, creativity, critical thinking, cooperative learning, communication, and innovation as they explore a different topic each week. Class topics change each semester.

Registration Fee
Explora members* $120 per child per semester
Non-members $135 per child per semester

Explora’s Camps & Programs
Explora educators develop activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.
Registration/Information
- You can register online
- Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.
- If you need assistance, please contact reservations at reservations@explora.us or 505-600-6734 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm).
Cancellation Policy

If a cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administrative fee.

Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the camp will not be refunded.

Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program

Bubble, Fizz, and Foam

Become a curious chemist when you mix up cool concoctions, investigate foamy foods, and pour bubbling solutions!
Taking Flight

Investigate how air interacts with materials to make them float and fly. Experiment with floating balloons, make simple gliding toys, and construct your own kite.
Fruit or Veggie?

We’ll dissect different fruits and vegetables to find out what’s inside and what they look like under a microscope! Then, we’ll make colorful fruit and vegetable prints to take home!
Discovering Triangles

It’s time to give triangles the attention they deserve! In this exploration students discover the different kinds of triangles and their importance. They also use triangles to build three-dimensional objects and begin to explore the perimeters and areas of these objects.
Simple Machines

Test your strength with levers and pulleys, and experiment with the ways simple machines make work easier in this powerful exploration.
Do Animals Play Hide and Seek?

Playing hide and seek with some camouflaged animals helps us understand how their natural environments disguise them. After discovering the importance of this type of defense, students design camouflaged animals of their own.
Light and Shadow

Discover different ways to make shadows as we investigate light by bouncing and bending it, explore shadows and shadow shapes, and experiment with colored light and colored shadows.
Adventures in Space

Our solar system is an amazing complex system consisting of planets, comets, and much much more. Come explore as we test the science of outer space.
Pebbles, Sand, and Silt
MON Nov 13 / TUES Nov 14
Get ready to sort rocks, dig in sand, and look for living material in garden soil as we investigate properties of these natural materials.
Chemical Changes
MON Nov 20 / TUES Nov 21
What’s the difference between a physical change and a chemical change? How do simple mixtures differ from chemical changes? Students explore these differences and investigate several fascinating chemical changes.
Rocks Rock!
MON Nov 27 / TUES Nov 28
Examine a variety of rocks and crystals, Use magnifying loupes to make up close observations. Experiment to find if any of the rocks roll or fizz or float. Then make your own rock prints.
Amazing Circles
MON Dec 4 /TUES Dec 5
Experiment with the strength of cones, create art with loops and circles, and be an architect with cylinders and domes.
