Overview:
Explora’s Home School Explorations Series offers your child a semester of weekly, 75 minute-long experiential science, technology, and art programs. Each Exploration is facilitated by Explora educators. These are 75 minute-long, materials-rich classes that actively engage every child in inquiry activities. In these classes, children will make discoveries in science, technology, engineering, art, and math through questioning, experiencing, and investigating. Children will be encouraged to build their own knowledge and cultivate skills such as observation, creativity, critical thinking, cooperative learning, communication, and innovation as they explore a different topic each week. Class topics change each semester.

Registration Fee
Explora members* $120 per child per semester
Non-members $135 per child per semester

Explora’s Camps & Programs
Explora educators develop activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.
Registration/Information
- You can register online
- Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

Cancellation Policy

If a cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administrative fee.

Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the camp will not be refunded.

Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program

Acids or Bases?

Explore natural acid/base indicators such as red cabbage, black tea, grape juice, and turmeric. We'll watch their colors change as we mix these indicators with acids and bases. We'll also use them to draw color-changing pictures.
Beautiful Bubbles
MON Feb 5 /TUES Feb 6
Experiment with bubble-blowing in a variety of ways, testing bubble wands of different materials and shapes. Make your own bubble blower and use it to create colorful bubble caterpillars.
Gears, Ramps, and Blocks

Experiment with gears, ramps of different heights, and blocks of different materials. Can you use your engineering skills to build a tall tower, move objects with gears, or roll an object down a ramp?
Floaters and Sinkers

Roll up your sleeves and experiment with fruits, vegetables, and other solids to classify them as floaters or sinkers. We’ll modify materials to make them float or sink, and design a foil boat to carry a cargo of pennies. How many pennies will your boat hold before it sinks?
Heat Up,Cool Down

Experiment with the effects of temperature change as we see how fast we can make ice cubes melt, use water of different temperatures to blow up a balloon, and make our own thermometers.
Me and My Shadow

Discover different ways to make shadows as we investigate light and shadow shapes, experiment with colored shadows, and make shadow puppets.
Spring, Stretch, and Bounce

Investigate stretchy and springy materials and walk with springs on your feet. Make your own stretchy, bouncy toy to take home.
Wonderful Rainbows

Separate light into the color spectrum and experience the colors that make up the rainbow. Use a variety of items from bubbles, prisms, lenses, and even nail polish to find rainbows
Be a Mad Hatter

Many people wear hats, but have you ever thought about why? Students test fabrics to determine which are the most water repellent, explore how hats’ forms are related to their functions, observe hats in works of art, and make original hats to wear at home.
Extraordinary Eggs

Test the strength of eggs, investigate and compare rolling eggs to other shapes, and create egg art. Design a capsule that will protect your egg in a drop. Will it survive?
Forceful Magnets

Investigate magnets and items they attract and repel with a variety of materials. Try magnetic painting and adding "fur" to animal pictures with magnets. Decorate and take home your own magnetic maze.
How Does Your Garden Grow?

Welcome spring! Get your hands dirty as you examine, compare and contrast different seeds, dissect lima beans and fruit, and plant seeds and flowers to take home.
