    NM Corporate Services Site Manager

What is your job and for whom do you work?

I am the Corporate Services Site Manager at Intel. My team is responsible for facilities operations, construction, building maintenance, regulatory compliance, on-site services, site security, and environmental, health and safety at the Intel New Mexico Site.

What math skills are most helpful to you in your work?

While I have an engineering degree and do sometimes use the math I learned in college, but the math skills I use the most are accounting practices to manage budgets and determine costs associated with managing our operations. Math is critical to virtually every job, whether it is advanced calculations or simple transactions.

What has helped you be successful in math?

I had a professor in college who required us to show our work. By becoming diligent in writing out the details of any math problem, including the math used to solve problems in other classes, it is easier to understand the problem and check my work.

What advice do you have for parents about math?

Encourage your children to take math classes throughout their education. It can be complex math as part of a STEM education program or practical math that is used in everyday life like managing a checkbook.
